I was thinking about British writers born in pre-independent India. These are the ones I know of:
(1) Eric Blair (George Orwell) Motihari, Bihar.
(2) Lawrence Durrell - Jamshedpur, Bihar.
(3) George Durrell - Jamshedpur, Bihar.
(4) Spike Milligan - Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.
(5) Rudyard Kipling - Bombay (now Mumbai).
